She said: 'I'm just way more confident now I suppose, because I don't have people to hide behind.

'I was used to having the girls as my comfort blanket, whereas now I have to step up. I have to push myself out of my comfort zone a lot more than I've ever done before.'

Perrie looked incredible on the front cover of the magazine as she slipped into a pale blue shirt with extra long sleeves.

She also debuted a blonde mullet as she struck a pose during the edgy photoshoot, wearing dramatic bold eye makeup.

In another shot Perrie wore a trendy long overcoat and elevated her frame with racy thigh-high knee boots.

Speaking of her inspiration behind the second single, Perrie said: 'I took inspiration from everywhere in my life. I took inspiration from my relationship with Alex, my son Axel, past friendships, relationships.

'How being in love makes you feel, my anxiety, literally everything that I kind of feel I've been through I've put into a song on the album.'

She added: 'The song is about coming out of a bad situation and letting go of what has happened in the past.

'It's that point where you feel empowered, and you leave the tears behind because you've come out the other side. It’s a sultry and smooth track that I'm really excited for everyone to hear it.

'Then there are so many more things to come! More music, more music videos and more live performances.'

Perrie featured in Numero's June edition to celebrate the release of her second single

Perrie made her solo stage debut at Capital Summertime Ballat Wembley on Sunday.

She looked like she was having the time of her life as she belted out her songs Forget About Us and Tears.

She ensured all eyes were on her as she stepped out in a gold minidress, made up of overlapping shiny discs as she shook her hips.

Her sparkly number boasted a daringly high slit at the side, exposing added inches of her toned legs as she strutted and danced around the stage.

Perrie added a pair of nude fishnet tights and boosted her height in gold high heels that matched her dress.

Her firstsingle Forget About Us shot straight to number one on UK iTunes after its release in April.

Her biggest fan is her son Axel, who Perrie explained already 'knows all the words' to all of her songs at just age two.

Appearing on Capital Breakfast in April, host Sian Welby asked the star: 'Iwondered whether you played the songs to Axel, just for a bit of reaction?'

Perrie then explained that her son is her biggest fan, and even has his own nickname for her recording studio, 'the la la room'.

She said: 'Yes, I play him everything. My studio is in the house so he calls it the 'la la room' and he'll just let himself in mid takes, like I'm in my zone, and he'll just come in.. 'la la la la la' and then he's like, 'not this one'.

'Like anytime I put a ballad on he's like 'not this.' And I'm like, 'oh, you don't want this ballad?' And he goes, 'no, I want to dance'.

'And I'm like, okay, so you want a more upbeat one, and he's got his favourite, which I can't name now. But he will be like 'play, play' and as soon as it comes on, he like, goes for it. And he knows all the words to all the songs. It's so cute!'

Perrie also opened about life without Little Mix, as she confessed it 'is weird and really bizarre' to not have Jade Thirwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock by her side.

'Like I feel comfortable. But it is weird. Like, the whole thing is so bizarre. And I just in my mind, I don't know. I'm like expecting to see the girls when I arrive. Even though I know that's not gonna happen,' admitted Perrie.

'I'm still subconsciously like, 'Jade, Leigh-Anne...where are you?' It's really bizarre, but it is exciting. Like, it's exciting that we're all doing our thing and like loving each other doing our thing.

'And, you know, you never know what the future holds. And I just I do miss them a lot. So this is random for me.'
