Adopt Juniper on Petfinder (2024)

Juniper (aka Juni) is a super sweet, affectionate 8-9 month old old terrier mix that weighs 42 lbs. She is expected to be around 45-50 lbs once she is full grown. This major cuddle bug loves nothing more than to be with her human and dog friends. She is a social butterfly that doesn't know a stranger and is always happy to make new friends everywhere she goes. She is very submissive to other dogs, so she has no problem making new doggy friends, too. She acclimates easily into new environments, loves car rides, and enjoys going on fun outdoor adventures. She is very affectionate with her humans and never passes up a chance to cuddle up on the couch with them. She is best described as being the perfect mix of laid back and active, so if you're looking for a pup that can be a couch potato that is also up for fun adventures, Juni is your girl.

Juniper is low to medium energy, so she will need a couple of leisurely walks or play sessions each day. She is very self-entertaining and keeps herself busy with her toys and long lasting chews while her foster mom works from home, and has acclimated quickly to a routine for potty breaks and playtime. If you're up for longer outdoor adventures like hiking on the weekends, she will always be happy to join you, but she is perfectly content having shorter walks around the neighborhood or walking trails. She loves to hang out on the porch or in the grass sunbathing, and even will start tossing herself toys to chase when her foster mom is busy working in the yard. She would love to have a big doggy toy box full of fun toys. Her favorite toys are the ones that crinkle and squeak, and she will take all her favorite ones to her dog bed to roll around and play with. She is a great pup to take on puppy play dates when you visit friends' houses with other dogs because she is very silly and playful with her doggy friends.

Juniper is dog and kid friendly. She is currently in a foster home with dogs ranging in size from 7 lbs to 85 lbs, and ages from 1 year old to 12 years old. She does well with dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments. When it comes to engaging with other playful dogs, she will match their play style and is always gentle with ones that are smaller than her. She knows that she has to be extra careful with getting the zoomies around the senior pittie and makes sure she doesn't knock her over when she is running and playing in the yard. She really loves the small, sassy chihuahua, and takes corrections well when the chihuahua communicates that is tired of Juni's silly puppy antics. She has not yet been introduced to cats, but is very silly, playful and curious, so it is recommended to do slow introductions with baby gates and leashes until they can get acclimated to each other. She has shown no signs of having a prey drive and doesn't even acknowledge the squirrels when they run across the fence or through the trees. When it comes to humans, she loves everyone she meets. She is very gentle when it comes to taking treats and will do little bunny hops when she is excited for a doggy cookie. Her sweet, silly temperament would be perfect for a family with kids and she would love to have little humans to play and cuddle with. She has been around a 12 year old and loved playing and wrestling with him. Due to her happy wiggle butt that may knock over a toddler or baby accidentally when she gets the zoomies, it is recommended that she is adopted into a family with older kids that are more stable on their feet.

Juniper is potty trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. She sleeps in a kennel every night with no fuss, but would love to sleep on the couch or in bed with her human at night so that she can get in some extra cuddles while you sleep. She is not destructive when left out of the kennel, but she is very curious and will snoot around on the counter. She hasn't helped herself to any humans food on the counter, but she has taken a dog treat or two. Her foster mom is working to correct the counter surfing, and she has been doing well with taking correction and redirecting her focus when she is told "down". She is great on a leash and loves to go on walks. Because she is very curious, she loves to stop and sniff on her walks. Her foster mom lets her do stop and sniffs as much as she likes at the beginning of their walks, then on the way back home, Juni remains focused for the rest of the walk. She does great meeting new people and dogs out on walks, too. She is very polite when she greets new dogs and allows them to sniff her first before she goes into a play bow to invite them to play with her. Her ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that she can run around and play in. If there are older human kiddos for her to play with, too, then that's a major plus. She would also do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as her forever human works primarily from home and she gets plenty of exercise outdoors. She would be fine being the only dog in the home, but she would really love to have the occasional puppy play date or go to doggy day care a few times a week since she really loves her doggy friends, too.

If you are interested in adopting Juniper, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application.

Juniper is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The total cost to adopt is $630, which includes a $400 adoption fee and a $230 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
